A snag in the process of development for Jonathan’s Landing – a new building plan close to the Tofte Bros. subdivision – will start the approval process over again.First time in 18 years a mistake like this has been made.
A small crowd had gathered outside Tuesday night’s city council meeting, some prepared to discuss a building plan that has been under fire from neighbors. But the discovery of a snafu earlier in the process took that discussion off the agenda and back to its beginning.
“A public notification error was made for a land use amendment,” Mayor Ward Koeser explained.

Nope, that's basically all a high spot right on the corner. Only the south and southeast most corners would be low, but I suspect still higher than any flood concern.

ReplyDeleteYes, that was my concern --- that a levee is needed. I recall watching with some anxiety, as were so many others, the US Army Corps of Engineers' levee on the south side. In fact, at one point, the Corps no longer allowed folks to walk on that levee due to the work they had to do during the rising river.
DeleteThis development is east of the Tofte Brothers residential development. The development company was from Texas. Tofte Bros aren't too excited about this development across the street from their high end development....

DeleteI don't get why the Tofte developmnet is concerned over this new development. All of their homes face into the little man made lake and are seperated by a "very busy and loud" East Dakota Parkway. I think these new homes and the commercial (whish is tucked into the NW corner of the development...and pretty much out of site from the Tofte development) will be a nicer view than the semi's and trucks that back up on East Dakota. Just my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI had mixed emotions about the concerns. At the end of the day, it would be very, very difficult for the planning committee to micro-manage to the nth degree. I know the area well; somehow it will probably all work out. I notice the same thing in areas in south Los Angeles (San Pedro) and over time, trees, highways, etc., tend to help areas blend together.
