- Top sundry form, February 18, 2012: "Well is currently producing 3 bbls per day."
- Three Forks at 9,725. Drilled through Nisku to Duperow.
- 34 stages; 3.6 million pounds proppant.
- 24 sliding sleeves stage (sic) and 10 plug and perf stages.
- 3,594,821 lbs of 30/50 white sand and 20/40 ceramic.
- I think the highest number I saw for total gas during drilling was 120 units.
- From geologist's report: "by 15,514 feet MD, we again dropped down to our ideal target TVD and the samples showed overall even green pinpoint fluorescence, with instant bleeding yellow green cuts with fast white streamers. Gamma was reading 26 api. And gas was minimal at 4 - 5 units of total gas."

Yikes! Based on this, no wonder they were not too excited about their wells. There was a local who had said the Zent well was now producing 500 bpd, wonder where that information came from. For 3 Barrels per day, one would think it's not worth it?

DeleteIt looks like they have increased production to about 20 bbls/day in the most recently reporting period.
I don't believe this well is currently producing 500 bbls per day. Unless he's counting the trucks in and out every day and knows something we don't about the April production rates, 500 per month looks about right.
DeleteAnother Chesapeake well comes of the confidential list tomorrow, I believe, in T137N R97W (file number 21143). As far as I can tell this will be the southernmost TF well drilled to date. I don't expect it will have any better news. Unless they frack operations need to be adjusted then I suspect the wells are going to drop off significantly around the T139N line. Whiting has some wells with OK, not great, IP's in the Zenith and Gaylord fields not to far away from these wells. Chesapeake hasn't completely left the area, so that's encouraging, I think I remember them submitting another permit just a few weeks ago in this area.
Geologically the Bakken is tapering out in this area but the three forks remains fairly thick, it's possible there will be benches in the TF that will have good producers here but it's just as possible and more likely that it won't. Those folks in SoDak will surely be disappointed now...I hope I'm wrong.
I've posted a memo to self to remind myself that #21143 comes off confidential list tomorrow. Thank you. I'm sure it's closer to 500 bbls of oil per MONTH. Most likely something got "lost in translation."
Delete21135 comes off on Thursday also. Last word I got was to watch the April reports on the Zent well. Indication was that there were some drilling errors made at first but Chesapeake has them figured out and the well was re-worked and is now producing more. If it was truely only 500 per month or about 16 per day, wouldn't they just plug it?

Look at the Bakken production of the Baytex wells and the OXY wells.
Please keep in mind Chesapeake is a gas company new to the Bakken. Their early work should be taken with a grain of salt. Well-placed sources have indicated a great many mistakes were made on not one, but many of their initial wells. Drilling techniques were not perfected and mistakes were made fracking.

DeleteGas company trying to perfect oil operations that other companies have had years to perfect. Fidelity is having the same pains transitioning. Until a more experienced company comes into this area, I would not put too much into these results.

ReplyDeleteIf their ideal target showed only 4 - 5 units of gas, the seam in that area does not bode well. My hunch is before they went back in, they would have to see better wells in the area.

If you have a car wreck with a car worth $15,000, and the car is "totaled," meaning that it would cost $20,000 to repair. Sure, you could repair it for $20,000, but why not just go out and buy a new car.
