KOG Production Misses Estimates -- The Williston Basin, North Dakota, USA

  • Estimates: 7,500 to 8,000 bopd.
  • Actual: 7,195 bopd (mechanical problems at six wells during 4Q11 that led to production delays)
  • One year ago: 1,783 bopd
Other data points:
  • KOG tripled its reserves to an estimated 40 million bbls (some numbers rounded, as is customary at this blog)
  • 2012: estimates: 22,000 to 24,000 bopd

    I believe that KOG is a prime candidate for a buyout this year since they hold some prime leases in the Bakken. I also think that other changes are on the horizon in regards to buyouts and when December rolls around, we could see names which aren't listed today in the Bakken.

      After the BEXP surprise, nothing will surprise me. Everything in the Bakken is a "prime buyout."
