And, unfortunately, Virginia, the Bakken thins out.

This is probably the best site you will ever find on the geology of the Bakken. Smile. And it's all free.
I have always believed that the Bakken thins as it goes westward but I also think the Bakken should be good in areas of Roosevelt, Sheridan and Richland Counties near the ND border. When widespread drilling in this Eastern MT areas actually begins, there is not telling what various formations may produce since this is somewhat of a new horizon.
