Are they trying to enlarge the Truax field in general? What does the "6 wells" refer to?
Also, noticed the the Truax field is not listed in the Fields Update column to the right - is this because there are not many wells in this field?

Yes, as I understand it, North Plains is requesting NDIC to extend the Truax-Bakken field by two sections, and then designate those two sections as a single 1280-acre spacing unit, and allow as many as six (6) wells to be drilled on that spacing unit.
ReplyDeleteYou can access the NDIC docket summary by clicking on the link at the top of the posting, but the key part is as follows:
"... application extending the field boundaries and amending the field rules for the Truax-Bakken Pool to create one 1280-acre spacing unit in Zone VI comprised of Sections 14 and 23, T.153N., R.98W., Williams County, ND, authorizing the drilling of up to six horizontal wells in the above spacing unit..."
The key point here is that over the past few months, there has been a trend to request to put as many as six or seven wells on single spacing units; this is a huge development and shows us how quickly the Bakken is being developed, and its potential.
With regard to field updates posted on the sidebar at the right, I only post those fields that have caught my attention for some reason. There are hundreds of fields and I simply don't have time to update them all (and even those I have, I seldom update them after the first stand-alone post).
The number of wells does not make a difference; it is generally something interesting to me about the field that results in me posting a stand-alone post about a given field.
