North Dakota's "Clarence Iverson" Oilman Dies -- Described as Legendary -- North Dakota, USA

Leon "Tude" Gordon, 95, died Tuesday in a Williston hospital. Incredible story.

Gordon was one of the roughnecks working the Clarence Iverson well in 1951. That was 59 years ago, or thereabouts. He would have been 36 years old when he was drilling that well. Hmmm.

  1. Rest in peace Tude! I always enjoyed your company and working with you.

  2. I can only imagine all the wonderful friendships Mr Gordon cultivated over the years. I can't imagine a closer group of folks, roughnecks, watching out for each other in a very tough, and a very dangerous job. Have a safe winter.

I find it interesting Mr Gordon came up from Oklahoma to drill wildcats in North Dakota and never left; or, if he did, he ended back up in Williston.
