A huge thank you to two folks who wrote to tell me that it was indeed possible to bring the NDIC's "Confidential Spreadsheet" and the "Active Drilling Rig Spreadsheet" to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.
I had tried doing that some months ago but it did not work for me. When these folks told me that's what they did, I tried it again, and it worked like a charm.
I can't guarantee my numbers will always be current. Some days I am away from my computer and some days, even if I am watching things, data changes so quickly, one cannot keep up with it.
But the bottom line is that it is incredibly easy to move the NDIC spreadsheets to one's Excel spreadsheet, and then from there sort the data as one wishes.
So, a big thank you. I won't mention names: they know who they are.

ReplyDeleteDue to information overload, I probably won't update the numbers more than once a month, but we'll see.
It would be useful and efficient, at least with subscription services, to allow the analysis directly through the ND Oil and Gas interface, avoiding the incessant repetition of importation.
ReplyDeleteWith a database application (like Access) the NDIC data can be easily imported and seriously manipulated.

I have to chuckle. I have to be careful. I started this blog as a hobby. I have obviously become obsessed with it -- it keeps me out of trouble. But I am afraid if I have access to so much more NDIC data I will become hyper-obsessed. We'll see. Smile. This information is much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteObsessions seem to be the source of human creations. Reducing the time required to get from question to answer can reduce 'obsession time'. Or, raise more questions...
