13355: Ballantyne, unitized plan for case number 13354

  1. Case #13526 on the Oct 21st docket is for CLR to put 7 wells each on 2 1280 spacing units. The interesting thing is that this is that one of CLR's first Eco-Pad's was put on this exact same spacing - these are the 2 Hegler and Arthur wells. One has to wonder what is going on here since nothing has been released yet on these wells...

  2. Regarding the Arthur/Egler Eco-Pad, the GIS map server shows two of the wells going north on 1280-acre spacing (2 sections) and two of the wells going south on 1280-acre spacing (2 sections). In case 13526, "not less than 7 wells on each 1280-acre spacing unit." So, in the case of the Eco-Pad, there were four wells in 2560 acres. Now, if I am reading it correctly, we are seeing almost twice as many wells (7 vs 4) in half the area (1280 vs 2560 acres).

And it looks like I didn't finish summarizing the dockets! Thanks for commenting, otherwise I would have missed that. I still have some work to do. Smile.

  3. Misspelling above: Arthur/Hegler.

And I agree with you. The GIS map server shows all four of these wells as producing and we have not seen a press release from CLR. I would have assumed had these been good wells, we would have seen a press release. It's bothersome.

  4. My gut tells me that the Arthur/Hegler wells must be doing something is they would follow it up with the potential to have up to 14 wells on the same 2560 acres. Correct me if I'm wrong, but they are playing the option to drill up to 10 more wells on the same land area.

If the rumors I'm hearing are true, these 4 wells were fractured at the same time, so I'm CLR knows what the IP is on them. Apparently it must have been high enough to get someones attention since these are the only sections on 146-96 that were requested for additional wells.

  5. I think you may be correct. At first I was concerned with no public release, but that's something BEXP would do, aggressively recruiting investors. CLR, on the other hand, is more circumspect, but perhaps not so quiet as EOG.

You are correct; it is sometimes in the driller's interest to not publicize data. If these are good wells, it will increase the lease rates, etc., to the detriment of the driller.

I think the only question is whether these are simply good wells, or very good wells.
