One New Permit -- February 24, 2026

Locator: 50048B.

Investing: again, on one of the best days ever for the market, BRK-B was flat; BRK-B is now down 3/4th of a percent for the full year. Micron? Up 340% for the full year. OXY? Up 4% for the full year. I just don't get it.

Investing: I was just lucky to catch this segment today, link here

Jargon: HALO. Link here

Josh Brown's HALO stocks. This list is dynamic and subject to change at any time. Jim Cramer opened his evening program with HALO -- but didn't / hasn't credited Josh Brown with the acronym ("heavy assets, low obsolescence").

Interestingly, Cramer is taking issue with HALO stocks. Cramer couldn't have been more explicit: he doesn't want folks buying into HALO. He wants folks to buy into companies selling things in high demand.

Cramer sees the chip shortage as the worst shortage of anything ever. Cramer says Anthropic is living rent-free in his brain which means he can't think of any other HALO stocks (with which he has not bought into). I can think of at least one HALO company: CAT.

I think Josh Brown is talking to investors with a multi-year horizon.

Cramer is talking to traders.

Josh Brown's initial HALO list:

  • BRK, SLB, DE
  • HSY(Hershey),
  • SCCO, GLW,
  • TPLIRMFDX, CPCL,
  • AAPL

NOG: does not increase its dividend; fifth quarter at 45 cents / share. NOG says they plan to keep the dividend at 45 cents for the entire calendar year, 2026.

FSLR: on a huge day for the market, FSLR was down $28 after the close today; down almost 12%;

Nancy Guthrie Kidnapping

From what little I know, the Guthrie family has completely mismanaged this whole episode.

Example: bait and switch.

The headline: the Guthrie family offers a $1 million reward for information that leads to getting their mom back.

In fact, according to Forbes, this is what the family said:

More than three weeks after Nancy Guthrie was abducted from her home in Arizona, the TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie said on social media Tuesday [February 25, 2026] that her family is prepared to pay a reward of “up to $1 million” for information that leads to her mother’s recovery. The masked individual who kidnapped her was caught on camera but remains unidentified, and Guthrie said in an Instagram video that “we still believe she can come home.”

Wow, talk about legalese:

  • "prepared to pay"; and,
  • "of up to $1 million."

Leaves a lot of room for lawyers to get involved.

My favorite thread today? Canadian hockey coach whining about losing -- link here

There are so may story lines here.
You know, it's pretty funny. Olympic hockey -- overtime -- 3 v 3. The US got an incredible opportunity in regulation time when they were at the wrong end of a 5 v 3 power play -- LOL. So, in regulation time, the US (3 players) beat Canada (with five players) in a power play, get great practice for overtime when it is 3 v 3. LOL.
And, then, of course, there are the "Americans" that are upset that the US won. LOL.
See comments from Jack Hughes' mother. Link here. I haven't finished this article yet; I don't know the writer's message, but based on reading much of the article, it needs to be tagged. Link here.

My favorite posting today? Shudda, cudda wudda -- link here:

Jamie Dimon: the new economy? He's anxious about it. I used to listen to Jamie Dimon -- then remembered he's a banker. I pay little attention to him.

The Book Page

We had a small group over the other night for coffee. We had to de-clutter the apartment -- this a.m. putting things back where they belong, I thought this would make a nice photo for the archives -- a stack of books I am currently reading --

-- "they" say the definition of a reader in American in 2026 is one who reads at least two books a year!

What's worse? The definition of a "book." Manga? Adult comics?

I talked about that the other day. Link here

One Has To Laugh -- Tuesday -- February 24, 2026

Locator: 50042LAUGH.

Ticker: AMD -- leading the NASDAQ 100 this a.m. before opening.

Ticker: MU -- up $7 / share in pre-market trading today; up almost 2% in pre-market trading.

Micron: one of the last things I wrote yesterday --

Market: I have to laugh.

Folks seem upset that the market dropped 1% to 2% today -- Micron is up 261% over the past six months. Is anyone paying attention? And, on top of that, for those companies that have not done as well, this provides a buying opportunity. But more important, on days like this, the market is providing more clarity for investors, if not traders.

RBN Energy: as LNG exports and Haynesville production rise, natural gas storage takes center stage. Link here. Archived.

New LNG export capacity near the Texas/Louisiana border, rising natural gas production in the Haynesville (and the Western Haynesville), and new pipelines transporting that gas south to the Gulf Coast have spurred a lot of interest in gas storage — and storage developers are responding. In today’s RBN blog, we’ll discuss existing and planned storage facilities between “the Haynesvilles” and the greater Sabine River area, the pipes they tie into, and the role all that storage will play as regional gas production and LNG export volumes increase.

The infrastructure buildout along the border between the Lone Star and Bayou states is well underway. According to RBN’s weekly LNG Voyager report, liquefaction trains (striped dark-blue diamonds in Figure 1 below) with a combined capacity of 75 MMtpa (10 Bcf/d) have reached a final investment decision (FID) and are under construction along or very near the Sabine-Neches and Calcasieu ship channels, with online dates of between now and 2031. These include:

  • Golden Pass LNG (three trains, 18 MMtpa, 2.4 Bcf/d) in Sabine Pass, TX, whose first train is starting up now and whose second and third are slated to do the same in Q2 and Q4 of this year.
  • Port Arthur LNG, whose four 6.5-MMtpa trains (26 MMtpa combined capacity, 3.4 Bcf/d) will come online in 2027, 2028, 2030 and 2031.
  • CP2 LNG — Venture Global’s follow-up to Calcasieu Pass LNG — whose 26 smaller trains (combined capacity 14.4 MMtpa/1.9 Bcf/d) will begin producing in 2027.
  • Louisiana LNG (first-phase capacity 16.5 MMtpa/2.2 Bcf/d), scheduled to start coming online in 2029.
