The Bakken This Next Week: Clear, Sunny -- December 26, 2021

Twenty degrees below zero, and zero is 32 degrees below freezing (°F):

Just think: with global warming, it might be only sixteen degrees below zero instead of twenty degrees below.

That's without the wind.

And, oh by the way, this is early January. February is the really cold month in western North Dakota.

.

Only twenty miles left to complete this 304-mile pipeline. Was scheduled to be completed this year (2021); now tea leaves suggest it won't be completed in 2022; and if it's not canceled, a likely possibility, it won't be completed until 2023.

Two XTO Berquist Wells Off Line -- December, 2021

Before we get started, "we" set a record -- the price of gasoline in the US -- national average -- hit an all-time high (yesterday): $3.264 / gallon, beating out the 2013 Christmas record of $3.262 / gallon. GasBuddyGuy. Not adjusted for inflation, so it's really not that bad. Go, Biden!

Now, back to the Berquist wells

Two wells on an XTO Berquist pad are off line.

One of the two wells:

  • 27383, 1,438, XTO, Berquist 31X-2G, Garden, t1/15; cum 160K 6/21;

Just to the east, there are a number of BR Abercrombie wells, Elidah oil field, on confidential list.

TCM

Wow, what a treat.

I saw the documentary, King of Cool: Dean Martin, when it first aired on TCM back in November, 2021. I was hoping to watch it again with my wife, but it is only airing at certain dates and times.

And, today, Boxing Day, was one of those times. So, first thing this morning, my wife and I watched it. One of the best documentaries ever; really, really enjoyed it.

There's something going on with Bob Mankiewicz, Peter Bogdanovich, TCM, and podcasts. Very, very interesting.

Now, following King of Cool, on TCM is Key Largo. Truly amazing. What a great Boxing Day. Key Largo.

And then the football games begin, including the Cowboys, Sunday Night Football.

Is An Old EOG Wayzetta Well Coming Back On Line? December 26, 2021

The other well in this immediate area:
  • 16371, AB/918, EOG, Ehlert 1-35H, Parshall, t4/07; cum 537K 3/20; interestingly enough the most recent sundry form was received September 5, 2019. In 2019, EOG put a number of wells in AB status to "ride out" the low commodity prices, leaving options open to re-work or shut down the wells.

EOG -- EOR? Parshall -- December 26, 2021

The well:

  • 27194, 504/off line, EOG, Austin 86-36H, Parshall, Bakken NOS, 1 section, 20 stages, 6.3 million lbs, t6/14; cum 154K 2/20; cum 164K 9/21; this will be another well to follow in light of current events.

There are three wells in this immediate area, a bit to the east:

  • 17040, 1,239, EOG, Austin 26-36H, Parshall, t11/08; cum 567K 10/21; this will be another well to follow in light of current events.

On same pad:

  • 27193, TA, EOG, Austin 87-36H, Parshall, t6/14; cum 120K 9/18; went off line, 9/18;
  • 27194, see above.

So, what's going on?

27193, a sundry form received November 15, 2019 -- two years ago, with "notice of intent, start date: November 20, 2019"
EOG Resources, Inc., respectfully requests an extension to keep the well in short-term temporarily abandoned (TA) status per the attached procedure:
1. Future use: the referenced well is drilled in EOG's core acreage and is being evaluated for future EOR projects. If the well has not been utilized .... by end of year 2021 for in-fill development, a long-term procdure to TA or P&A will be submitted ..."

If the EOR plan had fallen through and EOG was not ready to plug and abandon this well, there would be no reason to take #27194 off line.

Graphic: note the location of this area relative to the rest of the Bakken -- it's on the far eastern fringe.
