Another Opinion on the Recent Commodities Pullback
179 Active Rigs: Definitely A New Record -- Bakken, North Dakota, USA
Some days ago I was alerted that there were 179 active rigs in North Dakota, which would have been a new record. I personally did not see it, and the "179" was there for such a short time, most of us, including me, did not see it.
However, now I see it. Officially the new record of "179 active drilling rigs" has been reached.

South Dakota Oil Prospects -- Sturgis Area
My grandfather homesteaded in this area back in the early 20th century, but over the years the land has been sold and resold, I suppose, and to the best of my knowledge "we" hold no mineral rights there. But for those interested, it looks like there might be a bit of oil in this area also.
