It was on TCM today; first time I've actually watched it. A great movie. It's all about "resisting" authority. It's a great movie, but a very, very troubling message and how Hollywood "changed" the real story. It's no longer acceptable to be "colorblind." Universities, for example, are under pressure to consider race, giving "weight" to non-whites. Riots and demonstrations fall into another category altogether. The riots and demonstrations are generally in states where the political leadership is anti-Trump (and strongly anti-Trump) whereas not only was the Sturgis Rally in a state that strongly supports Trump, but in addition, its governor is a fast rising GOP star. My hunch is that the mainstream media is striking early to prevent this star from continuing to rise. But again, fake news. The numbers don't support the thesis. I’m not saying the Sturgis rally didn’t facilitate the spread of the virus. I’m sure it did. But the way the liberal media can’t wait to blame the motorcycle rally for “unmitigated transmission” is amazing. All you have to do is look at the “curve” for all major metropolitan areas and it’s obvious Memorial Day celebrations weren’t the only cause for an increase in spread. So frustrating.
