One Barge, Possibly Two, Leaking Light Oil Into The Mississippi ...

... near Vicksburg, MS ... first estimate ... 80,000 gallons .... first barge hit the bridge; second barge hit the first; not sure if second barge leaking oil.

Light oil would not have been carried by the Keystone XL so ....

... meanwhile, around the world, an explosion in a previously secret nuclear site, rocked Iran, trapping about 240 personnel deep underground .... so deep under the mountain "immune" to air strikes and bunker-buster bombs ... Iran says it was sabotage ... hasn't been verified ...

... and back in Washington, DC ... on 60 Minutes ... a compelling interview with the president and the outgoing SecState, but I can't bring myself to watch it ... so, Golf Channel! Round 4 ... Tiger Woods in control but there does appear to be some drama developing ... wow, those are some beautiful "shots" of the setting sun over the Pacific ... you can almost see Japan from there ...

.... oil futures moving ever so slightly positive .... looks awful chilly in southern California ... and Tiger just chips one into the hole from off the green ... absolutely incredible.

  1. RE XL , would it not carry dilbit, and how does the vicosity of dilbit compare to "light oil" (what ever that be)?

    1. Politicians and TransCanada will promote Bakken oil for the Keystone XL to get it approved, Bakken operators aren't going to take the huge discount to put Bakken into heavy oil.

Remember, TransCanada absolutely refused to put an "on-ramp" for Bakken oil where the Keystone XL would go through the Bakken (MT, near ND) until Montana governor threatened to disapprove the pipeline coming through his state. It was a political demand, not an oil industry decision, to consider adding Bakken to heavy Canadian oil.

Enbridge won't even mix anything with light, sweet Bakken oil in their dedicated Bakken lines.

Nice description of "light oil" here at wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light_crude_oil.

  2. If you want relevant questions on any matter of governance, or USA world position, do not waste your time watching [60 Minutes] ...wife has it on and it kinda reminds me of a Punch and Judy show...

    1. I saw the opening teaser, and I was tempted, but it seemed pretty light-hearted, not going to be one of substance. Hillary, no doubt, is trying to put a good face on the debacle of the past few weeks which really ruined an otherwise pretty incredible career. She missed that 3:00 a.m. phone call.

  3. gallons. Crude oil is measured in gallons.

    (It is a spill.)

    1. Yes, I saw that also; posted it exactly as the "press" was posting it. Yes, I did the math ... 1,900 bbls (or as they would post it, "less than 2,000 bbls" just doesn't sound like much (assuming I did the math right, and 42 gallons/bbl).

[I hope I did the math right; I can easily make mistakes.]

    3. Thank you. My bad. I had it "right" in my mind ... 80,000 gallons as stated in the linked article:

A barge carrying 80,000 gallons of oil hit a railroad bridge in Vicksburg, Miss., on Sunday, spilling light crude into the Mississippi River and closing the waterway for eight miles in each direction, the Coast Guard said. A second barge was damaged.

But I guess watching Tiger Woods I missed the typo. Thank you for catching that.

  4. The Fordow nuclear plant being blown up is a huge story. Congrats to Mossad! Sneaking explosives in disguised as equipment and/or hexafluoro uranium cannisters. Iran is going to retaliate against Israel, using Lebanon or Gaza. Iran will also target the US for terrorism, as reportedly they have sleeper cells here.

Being reported as confirmed in the UK and Germany, but not a peep out of US mainstream media.

    1. Interesting, isn't it, how quiet the US is on these things. Not sure whether to "blame" mainstream media for ignoring, or Americans, in general, just not interested/concerned. Most likely the latter.
